Transitional Kindergarten
Course Description

Math
Sadlier “Progress in Mathematics”
Instruction includes a balance of conceptual understanding, connections to prior knowledge, skill proficiency, and problem solving. Areas of content include sorting and classifying, patterns and movement, matching and counting, numbers 1-20, money, time, and exploring addition and subtraction.

Language Arts
Saxon Phonics Early Childhood Edition:
Instruction includes activities that build phonemic awareness and the relationship between sounds and letters, with a strong emphasis on oral language development.

Religion
Sadlier “We Believe”
Instruction includes our love for God and each other, respect for everyone, how to be a good friend, and God cares for everyone through discussions and artwork.
Children also learn the stories of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible by listening to a Bible story each day, discussing how the story relates to our lives, and singing a song that coincides with each story.

Science and Social Studies
(no textbook)
Instruction includes ways to explore, experiment, discover, and learn more about the world around us. Science skills include the nature of science, life science, earth and space science, and physical science. Social Studies skills include growing and changing, families, rules, our neighborhoods, our land and water, weather, bar graphs and pictographs, and recycling.
